Live jazz on The Village Green

Submitted by Orcas Center.

Live Jazz from Charlie Porter Quintet and Brubeck Brothers Quartet comes to The Village Green on June 24 and 25 as part of the FREE Summer Concert Series presented by Orcas Center, OrcaSong Farm, Country Corner and San Juan County.

Charlie Porter Quintet takes the stage on Friday, June 24 at 7 p.m. Uniting forces from his NYC-based band and his Portland-based band, Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Charlie Porter will be touring the Pacific Northwest with original music and standard favorites. Charlie Porter Quintet’s tour performance is made possible, in part, with the support of Jazz Road, a national initiative of South Arts, which is funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with additional support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The Brubeck Brother Quartet performs on Saturday, June 25 at 7 p.m. Chris and Dan Brubeck have been making music together practically all their lives. Drummer Dan and bassist, trombonist, and composer Chris cut their first record together in 1966 — more than a half-century ago. They’ve subsequently played a variety of styles in a number of different groups, as well as with their father, jazz giant Dave Brubeck, and with their own Brubeck Brothers Quartet. With Dan and Chris as the foundation, guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb, complete this dynamic quartet.
