Irthlingz in Concert

The Music Committee and Emmanuel Episcopal Parish welcome Sharon Abreu and Michael Hurwitz in their group Irthlingz at the Music At Emmanuel Concert on Wednesday, August 3, at noon. This popular summer concert series features island musicians who give their time and talent to fund the Virgil Cleveland Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship provides the opportunity for promising Orcas students to attend music camp.

Sharon was singing harmony by the age of 3. In New York she sang in audience-attended master classes. She was a soloist for Morzart’s Requiem and Bach’s Magnificat and B. Minor Mass with the Orcas Choral Society and for Mozart’s Vespers with Orchestra Seattle and the Seattle Chamber singers. Michael has always sung and is known on Orcas for his joyful singing with The Parking Angels. Sharon and Michael run Irthlingz Arts-Based Environmental Education and have performed at the NW Folklife Festival in Seattle and the World summit on Sustainable Development in South Africa. Sharon and Michael will be singing some duets, including a couple by Mozart, accompanied by Terri Triplett on piano. Grace McCune will join Sharon for a duet.

There is no charge for the concert but donations are appreciated.
