Dynamic Borealis String Quartet returns to Orcas Center

Orcas Center will present one performance only of the Borealis String Quartet on Saturday, June 26 at 7:30 pm.

One of the most dynamic world-class ensembles of its generation, the Borealis String Quartet returns to Orcas after a popularly received performance in 2006. They have received critical acclaim as an ensemble praised for its fiery performances, passionate style, and refined, musical interpretation. Having played together since 2000, the group is String Quartet in Residence at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Borealis is frequently heard on CBC Radio and other radio stations across North America and Asia.

Devoted to performing other chamber music repertoire, the Borealis has collaborated with many different artists, including members of the Borodin, Emerson, and Tokyo String Quartets.

For their performance at the Orcas Center, the Borealis String Quartet will perform Quartet No. 1 by Imant Raminsh, Schubert’s Quartet No. 12 in C minor, and Beethoven’s Quartet in E minor, Op. 59, No. 2, “Razumovsky.”
