Why is Discover Pass only good for one car? | Letter

At Moran Park recently, I bought a Discover Pass. Here’s what I discovered: it’s only good for one vehicle. The last time this direct tax was enforced, it was me buying the privilege of parking. I could take my pass in any car and park legally, but no more. Each vehicle needs to pay, even though I can only drive one car at a time.
The docent at the booth told me that this is necessary because neighbors actually stole passes from unlocked cars last time! So collective punishment is in order, comrades. And collect they do. The docent deferred to a ranger who told me I could hike in. I asked him if he expected me to use my state fishing license by toting my boat in on my back. Fishing in state waters in a state park is different than state fish and wildlife waters, but Smokey will still write you a ticket either way.
I was also told the county road right-of-way is under both jurisdictions. Can’t park there either – a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. I could tell the docent on duty really believed what he told me. Finally dawn broke, and I realized how 40 concerned citizens could overthrow the twice-rejected school bond and saddle the tax base with un-voted debt anyway. Schools teach to the bottom of the class, no child left behind means nobody out in front. The kindly docent and his ilk urge me not to fight the noose around my neck. Those who go along to get along will eventually find themselves in a paradise of peace and prosperity. I discovered I don’t dumb down well! God blessed America.
