Thanks for help with Orcas Lions Health Screening

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the many individuals who contributed their time and effort to make the Lions Health Screening on April 21 and 22 possible – more than 175 man hours went into this project!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the many individuals who contributed their time and effort to make the Lions Health Screening on April 21 and 22 possible – more than 175 man hours went into this project!

We would like to thank the following Lions for their help during this event: Martin Arnold, Elizabeth Barth, Jim Biddick*, Bill Buchan*, Merry Bush, Judy Dorman*, Kyle Hall, Pam Harney, Karen Hiller*, Toby Hiller*, Mike Jonas*, Paul Losleben, Dave McPeake, Kay Miller*, Mac Trunkey *, Carol Vincent-Hall*, Don Webster*, Carla Weston*, Diane Whitley and Patrick Whitley (*indicates they worked both days). Non-lions helping us this year were: Mary Boberg, Margaret Jonas, and Kathleen Schinkel. Thanks guys, we couldn’t have done it without you.

We’d like to thank the Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight and Hearing for developing the van and providing the accompanying screening unit crew, Lions Mike and Pat Parker, who traveled from the Vancouver, Washington area and made this event possible. We would like to convey our thanks to the Islands’ Sounder and the Chamber of Commerce for helping us get the message out about our event – if the community doesn’t find out about us, all our efforts are in vain.

A special thanks to Island Market this year for allowing us to set up in their parking lot when we discovered that cars had parked in the location we usually use to park the van. Last, but MOST important, we would like to thank the community who participated in the event. It’s a way to thank islanders who so generously support our causes and events throughout the year. There were 135 islanders who participated in the health screening process, making our efforts worthwhile. For those of you who discovered potential health problems, we hope you follow up with the appropriate care. If we can help just ONE person prevent an emergency or improve their health status, it was all worth the effort! If you missed this year’s screening, look for us next year!
