Healing Arts Center needs your help | Letter

The Healing Arts Center is again participating in the Orcas Island Community Foundation’s winter catalog. We are most grateful for the incredible generosity of our Orcas community. Because of you, we were fully funded for the deck construction project we promoted in the spring catalog.

As we completed our foundation restoration project, again with your generous support, we realized we needed to remove the front porch and deck in order to replace some decaying joists on the 1904 main structure, This, in turn, created some additional needs that stretched our budget – and we need help.

We have purchased some new doors and windows to upgrade the front of the building and move closer to our goal of energy efficiency. And, as everyone knows, the cost of these things has grown dramatically in the last year. Thus, our capital improvements account is thin. To complete the area where the porch was removed (with said doors) we need to side and trim out the front of the building – all of which require the money necessary to purchase and install. If you’re one of our contractor friends and you’re sitting, perhaps, on a couple of hundred lineal feet of 1/2” x 6” beveled siding, please consider gifting it to the Healing Arts Center.

We estimate the repairs and rehab will cost us $9,200 – the amount we’re asking the community to help us raise as part of the 2022 winter catalog fundraiser through Orcas Island Community Foundation, Dec. 1 – 15.

I, personally, will be participating on Ben Franklin Day to help generate additional prize monies. Please feel free to go to the OICF catalog site at https://oicf.us/ and help at any level, in any of the games. Thanks so much for giving us a look.
