Orcas Center’s Visual Arts Committee invites the community to participate in and attend the upcoming art exhibit, “Movement.” This community show explores the idea of movement in all its forms — whether physical, emotional, spiritual or environmental. Movement can be captured in the graceful arc of a dancer, the changing of the tides, the shifting of seasons or even the stirring of the human heart.
Island artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to contribute their interpretation of this theme. From painting and photography to sculpture, textiles and beyond, each piece will reflect the many ways movement shapes our world and our lives.
Community art shows at Orcas Center are open to all island artists — emerging or established. They are an opportunity to showcase local talent, foster connection and celebrate the vibrant creativity of our neighbors. To participate, artists should bring ready-to-display work to the Madrona Room on Wednesday, Sept. 24, between 10:30 a.m. and noon.
The public is invited to join us for the opening reception with featured artist, David Densmore, in the lobby, on Friday, Sept. 26, from 5:30–7 p.m. The exhibit will remain on display through October 21.
Come experience Movement—a show that promises energy, reflection, and inspiration through the eyes of our island artists.
Artwork pickup: Wednesday, Oct. 22, 10:15 a.m. to noon.
