OIHS coed cross country season set to begin

The Orcas Island High School Coed Cross Country season begins on Monday, August 22. All practices begin at 3:30 pm during the week, and the season runs through the start of November. An interest in running and a desire to improve are the only requirements to participate this fall! All home-schooled, Orcas Christian School, and Spring Street students in grades eight to twelve are eligible. Students need to have registered and have a current physical exam before being allowed to practice. Runners need to have participated in ten practices before running in their first meet, which is in Bellingham on September 10. The team will be participating in six invitational meets, a league home meet, the League Championship meet, and the Tri-District Championship meet. Runners who qualify at the District Championship meet will be invited to the State Championships meet at the start of November. Five of the six invitational meets are on Saturdays. The race distances are from two miles to five kilometers (3.1 miles). Please come out and be part of the team this season!
