Look for excellence in wood

Orcas Center will be hosting the “Wood N Things” Wood Art and Furnishings Exhibit from Oct. 2 through Oct. 28.

Professional, hobbyist, and high school student wood artists and craftsmen’s creations in all forms of woodcraft will be on display at this year’s exhibit. The show is open to the use of all types of wood with an emphasis on recycled and local island woods.

Don Pencil, co-director with Beverly Leyman of the Orcas Center Visual Arts Committee, is working on this production and would like to meet any wood artists or craftsmen who are interested in having their work considered for this exhibit.

“It is exciting to work with so many gifted woodworkers here on Orcas,” said Pencil. “I was a little surprised to find so many and getting to know them is a thrill. This exhibit is becoming one of the better ones I have been involved in.”
