Orcas Island Elementary School

My third- and fourth-graders at Orcas Island Elementary have published a book! It’s about great places to visit on Orcas. The process started as an assignment for each student to give a speech in class about a special place on Orcas they felt I should visit (I have only lived here since September and wanted to learn from the students about where to go on Orcas). It turned into an opinion essay opportunity and, from there, a published book. The students are very proud, and the book is still for sale through Student Treasures Publishing at www.studentreasures.com.
