Thank you for a great seed saving event | Letter

The Second Annual Community Seed and Plant Exchange on Orcas Island was just as awesome as last year – maybe even better! There were so many wonderful items shared. It seems our local population of seed savers is growing exponentially. (YIPEEEE!)

Thank you to the following gardeners who gave their Sunday afternoon to work the event and help make it a success: Josephine Bangs, Sylvia Biddick, Dan Borman, Chelsea Cates, Andrea Cohen, Sydney Cooke, Megan Damofle, Mikial Denker, Perri Gibbons, Marguerite Greening, Bill Griswold, Sara Hennessey, Gaven Horne, Terry Jones, George Karnikis, Diane Keller-Batter, Herlwyn Lutz, Ulanah McCoy, Carolyn O’Day, Emily Reid, Nancy Schmidt, James David Sneed, Alice Swan, Larry Thomas and Paula Towne.

Thank you to the many experienced growers who are volunteering their time to mentor others on how to save seed. And a special thank you to the many growers who brought their home-grown seeds and plants to share. Just as the participants were an interesting and diverse group, so were the offerings.

Additionally, we thank our very generous sponsors, including Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, Orcas Island Hardware, Orcas Island Yacht Club, Seed Savers Exchange, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, and West Sound Community Club.

If you are interested in seed saving and would like to join the group, please contact us (Ginger Moore at 376-8881 and Ronda Jones at ronda062@gmail.com). Everyone is welcome.
