Jan. 17: Remnants of a homespun I.E.D — crudely-crafted out of a 16 oz. plastic root beer bottle — were discovered near the driveway of Orcas Island’s Sportsman Club on Enchanted Forest Road. Authorities believe the improvised explosive device was detonated some time ago given the amount of dirt that had amassed inside the partially destroyed bottle. Heat from the blast completely melted one side of the plastic bottle.
