Orcas Island School District students and coaches can now apply online for grants from the Orcas Booster club to fill school sport-related needs.

“The intention is to try and remove financial obstacles for students wanting to participate in school athletic programs,” said Cathy Ferran.

Grants have been available in the past, but a new online form on the Orcas Schools website makes applying a simple online process. Need categories include participation fees, equipment, travel stipends, and “other.” The requests are time-stamped and automatically sent to the Orcas Boosters Board for consideration.
