A need for some two-wheelers at the airport

The airport on Orcas has a need it hopes the island can fill.

“Since the airport no longer has a courtesy car, we’re looking for a few decent bikes that our fly-in guests can use while they’re visiting the island,” requested Jeannie Frank, the new manager at Orcas Island Airport. “A few bikes and a barbecue grill.”

Frank said she would love to see some children’s bikes and a few adult bikes donated, maybe even a trike.

“A trike would make it much easier for someone who needed to grocery shop,” she said.

The barbecue grill would be available to guests as well.

“We’d like it to be propane,” Frank said, “since we already have a donated tank.”

Islanders with bikes or a barbecue to donate to the Port Authority can call Jeannie at 360-296-1103, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Let her know what you have and introduce yourself. The airport is located at 147 Schoen Lane in Eastsound.
