Missing Orcas man found safe

Missing Orcas Island resident James Keyes, 67, was found by searchers at approximately 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Keyes had last been seen at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Monday as he left his house on foot from Kahboo Hill Road south of Cascade Lake. He was wearing a bright blue baseball cap with ear flaps, an aqua fleece jacket with a gray vest and black fleece pants.

Orcas Island Fire and Rescue; San Juan County Sheriff’s Office; Washington State Park Rangers; Washington Department of Emergency Management; Skagit county search and rescue; Whatcom County Search and Rescue; and Coast Guard were all involved in the search by ground and air.
