The Orcas Island Vikings faced off against the St. Margaret’s Episcopal School team in San Juan Capistrano, California the evening of Sept. 16. They were looking for valuable experience playing a top-quality football team, and they found it.

“Last night was great!,” said head coach Scott Harris of the non-league game. “We lost 44-0, but the boys played hard.  We hoped to face a championship caliber team while down here…and that is what we got. The boys played well and stuck together. We had some great plays on defense and Jake [Zier] ran for 80 yards! I am happy to say all boys are healthy and excited for the day. This will help us become the team we strive to be.”

The team will play the Tacoma Baptist Crusaders, always a tough opponent, at home on Dahl Field this Saturday, Sept. 24, at 1:30 p.m. The Vikings took down the Crusaders at the state 2b quarterfinals last year.
