Alex Waldron takes silver at Junior Olympics in Seattle

The Orcas High School Sailing Team participated in U.S. Sailings Northwest Junior Olympics on Aug. 22 and 23.

The regatta was hosted by the Seattle Yacht Club at Shilshole Bay. Orcas sailors Lee Gibbons, Connor O’Neil, Cameron Schuh, Taylor Smith, Alex Waldron and Jake White all raced. In the Laser Full Rig, Waldron won two races, taking the silver medal, and Smith placed fourth, one point out of the bronze. White placed sixth in the Laser Radial Fleet. The team travels next to Cascade Locks, Ore. to compete in the NWISA singlehanded championships on Sept. 5 and 6.
