Girls soccer: Orcas crushes Concrete in 3-0 shutout

October 26 was senior day for the Lady Vikings - bitterly, finger-numbingly cold. But the Orcas girls brought the heat.

October 26 was senior day for the Lady Vikings – bitterly, finger-numbingly cold. Cold enough to crack Concrete, apparently.

The Orcas girls brought the heat.

Smoking Orcas defenders and midfielders kept the pressure on the Concrete end of the field for most of the game, helping Marissa Veldman and Sofie Thixton to fire three bullets into the goal for a 3-0 win. Veldman scored two goals and Thixton scored one. Lana Bronn was instrumental in thwarting Concrete attacks, sweeping the ball upfield and feeding it to Orcas attackers.

With the win, the team earned a berth at the upcoming bi-district playoffs on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
