The Lady Vikings ventured to Concrete last week and dominated a doubleheader in a rematch against a struggling Lion team in two important league games.

“Last game, Concrete beat themselves, today we beat them with hard hitting, less walks and better defense,” said coach Scott Harris.

Harris was looking for improved hitting and fewer defensive errors from his young team after a tough loss to Friday Harbor. The Vikings delivered on both in a deuce of well-played games, resulting in a 23-7 first game victory and 23-1 in the second game.

The Vikings slammed in 19 hits in the first game, including a run home run by Aliviah Garcia, a double by Alena Janssen, a double and triple by power hitter Lana Bronn, plus four hits at four at bats by Kathyrn Tidwell.

Pitching in the second game was Bella Nigretto with Susol continuing at catcher. As if the first game was not enough, the Vikings came out hitting just as hard with 16 hits highlighted by a Nigretto two-run home run, a Bronn triple and two singles, plus Tidwell repeating four hits at four at bats, garnering the elusive perfect batting average. But the finish on the setting concrete was applied by Janssen with a grand slam home run to end a productive game after only five innings, mercy rule applied.

On April 23 at 1 p.m., the Vikings face Darrington at home at Buck Park.
