Olga Daze returns! July 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Don’t miss Olga Daze! Festivities begin in front of the Community Center at 10 a.m. Come for breakfast at the bake sale, featuring the world-famous maple bars made on the spot. Stay for lunch, then come back to the bake sale for dessert.
The parade starts at noon and features an Orcas Island Fire and Rescue fire truck, antique cars and lots of zany people.
Live music will be performed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring our island’s own talented musicians. Children’s games and face painting will take place throughout the day, guaranteeing lots of fun and prizes. There’s also a history booth and an antique printing press where you can create your own beautiful, one-of-a-kind document in beautiful calligraphy.
And for the second year in a row, a rider mower race from 2-2:30 p.m.! If you’d like to enter, please call Steve at 360-376-1461.
A longtime tradition at Olga Daze is the raffle of a beautiful handmade quilt. Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the day up until the drawing at about 1:45 p.m. You do not have to be present to win.
Then there’s the Big Beautiful Yard Sale with lots of great stuff at bargain prices. Last chance to donate items for the sale is Thursday, July 17, from 4-6 p.m. at Olga Park near the red and white shed. No clothes, books or exercise equipment will be accepted. Come for Olga Daze, then spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the beautiful Olga community. Full of history and charm, check out the newly refurbished Olga Store (an Olgagatto, a must-have!) and the most charming post office you’ll ever see in the same building. Take a stroll down the old dock and imagine a ferry from 100 years ago bringing passengers to enjoy the old dance hall. Down the street, the Artworks (formerly a strawberry barreling facility) is full of beautiful one-of-a-kind art and crafts and features the Lascaux Cafe with chef Dante’s heavenly pastries and light bites. Don’t miss Olga Pottery across from the community center, where you won’t be able to leave without one of Jerry Weatherman’s beautiful pieces. Stroll down Pt. Lawrence Road, and if you need to work off some of those maple bars, turn left past the Artworks and take a short but challenging hike at the Coho Preserve. Further down Pt. Lawrence, you’ll pass beautiful Buck Bay, then perhaps you’ll have worked off enough calories to enjoy some delightful seafood treats at Buck Bay Shellfish. All in all, a perfect day!
