The Music Committee and Emmanuel Episcopal Parish will present its organist and choir director Marianne Lewis on Wednesday, July 31.
She is a graduate of Lewis and Clark College and the University of Oregon. During the concert, Lewis will play organ music by Dietrich Buxtehude and Johann Sebastian Bach, both organists of the baroque period. Included is a Praeludium in A minor and a Fugue in C by Buxtehude, a chorale prelude based on the hymn “All Glory to God on high” by Bach and, in conclusion, with Bach’s most famous organ work, the Toccata and Fugue in D minor.
There is no charge for the concert but donations are welcome to help fund the Virgil Cleveland Memorial Scholarship.
The concert begins promptly at noon. Attendees are invited to bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy on the lawn after the concert.
