Truey Cooper honored by Democrat and Chronicle

Truey Johnston Cooper, mother of Orcas Islander Debbie Hurne, has been honored in a story by the Democrat and Chronicle entitled, “Love for others guided Truey Johnston Cooper’s every step.”

Cooper, who passed away this July, was 101 years old. She visited the Hurnes on Orcas Island this summer, baking 20 pies for the fun of it while she was on the island.

Hurne works at Key Bank’s Eastsound branch.
