Viking soccer shows spirit to the end

The Orcas Vikings lost to Mt. Vernon Christian 1-0 in overtime on Tuesday, but “we played a great game,” remarked Coach Matt Stolmeier. “The game went into overtime and they won it on a golden goal, but we played well on all sides of the ball that day. Both teams were evenly matched and we dominated the offensive piece of the game but their defense held us at bay. It was a really great, vigorous game and we played as hard as we could. Playing with that much spirit, we would have a good chance in the playoffs.”

But on Thursday, the soccer team lost to Providence Christian 2-1, and on Saturday, in a battle for district placement, they fell to the Lopez Lobos 2-1, which ended their season.
