Yet another Alice in Wonderland-themed event next weekend! When we started planning this event in January we did not know there would be another superstar Alice in Wonderland event at the Orcas Center, but we are thrilled that the island will be filled with naughty Cheshire Cats, cranky Queens and precocious children!

“Opening Day” marks the beginning of the sailing season at the Orcas Island Yacht Club and typically includes special events to celebrate our maritime history and traditions. This year we invite everyone to sail down the rabbit hole as we celebrate on May 10. All events will happen at the Orcas Island Yacht Club at 876 Deer Harbor Road.

9 a.m.: Start off with the annual Opening Day Regatta.

Noon: Decorated boat parade. Bring your own Alice in Wonderland-themed boat to join the parade or cheer on your favorite festooned boat from the Orcas Island Yacht Club dock. Prizes.

1 p.m.: The Unbirthday Tea Party. Purchase tickets ($25 for adults and $15 for kids) to attend the Mad Unbirthday Tea Party catered by Savory, the new café in the former Farm to Ferry location. Lunch tickets must be purchased no later than May 7.

2 p.m.: “Extremely Fun Youth Regatta.” Kids, 8 to 15 years old, with any level of sailing experience, are invited to join. RSVP at nataloo@me.com or 917-763-8726.
