Moran State Park Teen Backpacking trip deadline for registration is today. San Juan Island’s Island Rec. and the Orcas Island Recreation Program are offering a middle-school aged teens backpacking trip Thursday and Friday, August 21 and 22. This will be an opportunity to meet new kids from neighboring islands. Teens will hike with experienced adults to the top of Mount Constitution (without backpacks) and the Cascade Range before dinner, a campfire and s’mores. 376-5339 to register. The cost is $45.

Explore Life in the Lake from 1 – 3 p.m. at Moran State Park’s Environmental Learning Center dock. San Juan Nautre Institue and Orcas Island Recreation Program are collaborating to offer a fun exploration of life at Cascade Lake. Adult supervision provided; parents are welcome.
