County manager visits Orcas to discuss projects

County Manager Mike Thomas joined Councilman Rick Hughes for a day on Orcas Island last week.

The reason for the visit? To take a look at the various project ideas for Orcas Island and to begin to consider the combined projects upcoming in the community.

Meetings were held with representatives of EPRC, Orcas Chamber and OPALCO, Stormwater Chair Gulliver Rankin and Orcas Fire Chief Kevin O’Brien. Topics of conversation included the new fire marshal program, Prune Alley improvements, fiber and street lights in the commercial core and parking and garbage issues.
