‘Northwest Reflections’ at Artworks

The Orcas Island Artworks features studio-mates Geoff Shilling and Tina Brown through the month of November.

Drawing inspiration from Pacific Northwest first nation art and the natural environment of Orcas Island, Brown has created a wide-frame full-length mirror covered with book cloth and paper collage images of Northwest wildlife.

Shilling responded to Brown’s work with multiple individual images of the wildlife in hand-woven jacquard textiles.

“The combination of fabric and paper along with the color palette of black, red, gold and cream make a rich and striking ensemble,” say organizers.

This is Brown and Shilling’s second collaborative show. They relish the challenge of trying to integrate their mediums and work habits and enjoy the artistic play that happens when creating a joint work of art.

The Artworks is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
