Brown Bag Concert: The first concert of the season will feature Marianne Lewis, organist. Starts at noon at Emmanuel Church. Free, limited seating. Bring a bag lunch to eat on the lawn following the concert.

Friday, July 3

“Tons of Art” opening: Reception for group sculpture exhibit at Orcas Center in the Madrona Room beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Booksignings: Orcas Island novelist Sara Williams signs her third mystery, “One Big Itch,” dockside at the Deer Harbor Marina, 1 p.m. until dark; She also joins the Historical Museum festivities Saturday, July 4, on the Eastsound Green from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Theatre camp performace: Ten young participants of the 2009 Theatre Camp will perform at Orcas Center at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $8.

Sunday, July 5

Music in the Park: The Sister Wives, a rock and blues band, will be the featured performers at Music in the Park in the Village Green from 6 to 8 p.m. The band is comprised of four women from Salt Lake City. Ritambhara Tyson of Orcas will add her blues harmonica to the show.

Chess: The Orcas Chess Club, Eastsound Library, 3:30 p.m., every Monday afternoon.

Al-Anon: The Al-Anon group on Orcas meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Old Parish Hall to the right of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

Open mic: Lower Tavern has open mic night weekly starting at 8:30 p.m. Jaen Black hosts.

Open Mic Pizza Night: Weekly at Doe Bay Resort Cafe, benefits island nonprofits. Dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. and the Open Mic starts between 7 and 8 p.m.
