Carl Buttke is August featured artist at Artworks

The Orcas Island Artworks will feature watercolor paintings of the San Juan Islands by Carl Buttke through the month of August. Buttke paints landscapes and seascapes in the plein air style.

The exhibit includes paintings with a framed panel sealed with wax technique that eliminates glass glare, as well as traditionally framed watercolors.

In addition to his current focus on landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, he paints abstract nonrepresentational images and has painted extensively in villages throughout France, Spain and Portugal including at Monet’s Giverny garden.

Buttke lives on Orcas Island with his wife Penny and their dog Carmela.

His paintings may be viewed at www.carlbuttke.com. The Artworks is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
