Auditions for ‘Billy Elliot’

Auditions for “Billy Elliot – The musical” will be held on Nov. 6-8 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Orcas Center’s Madrona Room. The production will run in March 2018 on the main stage.

Aristotle Luna has been cast as Billy Elliot. Anthony the Dancer and Tiffany Loney will share choreography and Robert Hall will direct.

The play is a musical based on the 2000 film Billy Elliot. The music is by Elton John, and the book and lyrics are by Lee Hall. The plot revolves around Billy, a British motherless boy who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes. The story of his personal struggle and fulfillment are balanced against a counter-story of family and community strife caused by the 1984–85 UK miners’ strike in County Durham, in North Eastern England. The musical premiered at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London’s West End in 2005 and was nominated for nine Laurence Olivier Awards, winning four, including best new musical. In New York, it won ten Tony Awards and ten Drama Desk Awards.

Everyone is invited to the auditions and there are many open parts for adults and children. They are also seeking young dancers, singers of all ages and ensemble parts.
