Our community thrives with Orcas Rec | Letter

Simply put, our community thrives with The Orcas Recreation Program. It provides abundant opportunity for young and old alike to engage in safe, inspiring island activities outside of school. The cost is minimal (to the tune of a latte a month for most property owners, free for renters). The value is infinite! Do the math.

The good news:

Back in November the majority of this community voted yes (58 percent to be exact) for the Orcas Rec program.

The bad news:

We didn’t get the expected voter turn out and missed the required 60% approval to maintain funding for the program.

The good news:

Thanks to outstanding commitment and work of our five elected volunteer commissioners we will have a chance to remedy this mistake in the February election.

Please join us and urge your friends to be sure to vote YES for this undeniably successful community program.

For all island families, for the community at large, join us, and vote YES for Orcas Rec.
