In the Guest Column “Remodel middle school not replace” by George Larson, published in the June 20, 2010 edition of the Sounder, Mr. Larson incorrectly suggests that the County’s Orcas Island transfer station would not accept construction and demolition wastes from the proposed middle school project.

The County transfer station would accept that waste. To the best of my knowledge, there have been no statements from any representative of the County solid waste utility to suggest that it would not be accepted nor any reason for such a statement to be made.
