The produce bins at the Orcas Island Food Bank were overflowing this summer with all manner of beautiful and nutritious vegetables thanks to the generous donations of Island home gardeners and farmers.

The Orcas Island Food Bank board members would like to thank gardeners and farmers alike for making the effort to bring their “extra” harvest into the Food Bank for distribution to Food Bank participants. All gratefully received the fresh produce and seed starts provided by their neighbors.

Thanks also to the Orcas Island Master Gardeners and the Orcas Island Realtors Association for their promotion of the “Plant a Row for the Hungry” campaign, which in turn was supported by Driftwood Nursery, Smith and Speed Mercantile, Ace Hardware and Island Hardware.

Thank you all for providing the bountiful harvest.
