Despite cold rain and wind, dozens of community members gathered Saturday evening at the labyrinth outside Emmanuel Church on Main Street for a silent vigil honoring Renee Nicole Good.
Sharmin Ensminger organized the vigil and welcomed participants to the 5:30 p.m. gathering, which was organized to create space for peace and healing. Before beginning their silent walk around the candlelit labyrinth, attendees shared their desire to show support and remember Good’s life.
The event, billed as “making space for peace and healing,” invited the community to pause and reclaim a sense of peace in the face of tragedy. Participants brought candles, flashlights and lanterns to illuminate the darkness as they walked in collective silence.
The vigil concluded with participants joining hands and being led in a chant by Darcy Leach.
