The Executive Director (ED) is a key representative and advocate for Orcas Island business owners; accountable for providing executive leadership, strategic direction, and vision for the development and fulfillment of the Chamber’s Mission and Bylaws. The ED is responsible for the overall management and success of the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce, including hiring and developing part-time staff & volunteers. The ED reports directly to the chamber board. The ED is actively involved in community-wide business events and economic-related issues and events. The ED serves on the San Juan Islands Visitors Bureau board of directors and may serve on the San Juan County Economic Development Council and the San Juan County Lodging Tax Advisory Council. The ED maintains a collegial relationship working with the EDs of the Lopez and San Juan Island Chambers of Commerce. Salary starts at $40,000, DOE.

Experience & Skills:

• Management position in a non-profit or business preferred.

• Superior written, oral communication, and social media skills as well as strong public speaking ability.

• Knowledge of the Orcas Island business community.

• Knowledge of finance, economics, planning, & management.

• Technology experience including, but not limited to Microsoft Word & Excel, Google online business tools, Constant Contact, QuickBooks, Create Monthly Newsletter, Create and Manage Chamber’s Social Media Accounts
