Orcas Center welcomes internationally renowned singer Susan Osborn back to Orcas Center after an extended absence. Osborn and friends will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28; tickets are $15 from the Orcas Center box office or online.

Osborn, who will play piano and guitar, will be joined by multi-instrumentalist Bruce Harvie, playing guitar and mandolin, and feature a special opening monologue by Deborah Sparks. Expect to be moved, and leave feeling more hopeful about being a human being.

Nurtured by the wide range of artists – like Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald, Maria Callas and Phoebe Snow, and the songwriting of Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman and Laura Nyro – Osborn’s music has covered a lot of ground in her 45-year career as a singer, songwriter, recording artist and producer. Her voice can go from a whisper to a wail and has been said to lead the listener directly to the soul.

Osborn has lived on Orcas for 32 years and has thrilled audiences across the globe with her powerful voice and intimate presence. The evening’s music will include songs from her latest release Hummingbird, as well as selections from some of her other 25 previous musical endeavors.
