The Friends of Moran will host its annual park cleanup on April 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Volunteers are invited to come and help clean up the park, clearing trails of fallen trees and branches brought down by recent storms and providing campsite maintenance, among other tasks.

“Just in time for camping and fishing, and just a bit before Earth Day, those passionate for our park gather to help clean up and prepare for hikers and campers,” said a representative of the nonprofit group. “You needn’t any special tools, but bring a shovel or rake if you have it. We have trail work, campsite work and sometimes even a building to repair.”

Hot cocoa and coffee are available to volunteers as early as 9 a.m., with a hot lunch served around noon, provided by Karen and Ken Speck. Russel Barsh will present a lecture on the Rough-skinned Newt, which migrates across Mt. Constitution road a couple of times each year.

The event also provides special lodging discounts to visitors who work at least two hours in the park. The Landmark Inn, Cascade Harbor Inn and Doe Bay Resort are all offering special deals to cleanup volunteers. Visit www.friendsofmoran.com/cleanup for more details.
