NOAA’s National Weather Service is calling for 3″-7″ of snow today, with winds in the Bellingham area to reach 20-30 mph. An additional 6″ to 12″ of snow is expected by Wednesday before it will turn to rain.
“They are saying all of the forecast models are agreeing on the 6 -12″ lowland snow for Wednesday, so there is a high degree of confidence in that,” said Orcas Fire division chief Patrick Shepler. “They said it is shaping up like 1996 … I think the San Juans got about 2 feet in that storm over a couple of days.”
