Marion Speed

Marion Speed, wife of Leslie E. Speed Jr.; mother of Errol Speed; grandmother of Tiak Speed, Elana McMillen, Lila Richardson, Christiana Speed, Makayla Speed and Taiya Speed; great grandmother to Ashauna and Tristan Speed, and Cienna and Hayes Richardson, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 26 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, in Dover, N.H.

Marion was born on May 7, 1930 in Queens, N.Y., and grew up in Williston Park, N.Y. graduating from Mineola High School. Marion was a devoted mother and homemaker, living most of her adult life in South Huntington, N.Y.

Marion greatly enjoyed her family and friends, gardening, watching films, church and Bible study. Marion was a talented member of the Huntington Choral Society, and performed as both actress and singer in numerous community theater musicals productions. Marion was a beautiful and caring woman, whose smile could brighten anyone’s day. She will be greatly missed.

Marion and Leslie Speed lived on Orcas Island for approximately four years on Golf Estates Road, from 2002 to 2006.

Marion is survived by her husband Leslie E. Speed. Jr., her two sons Eric. Speed and Errol C. Speed, her brother Charles F. Schelling, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
