Free children’s clinic at the Healing Arts Center throughout March

Christopher Evans, LMP, will be offering a free movement clinic for children ages three to 13 at the Healing Arts Center on Mondays throughout March.

Evans, a licensed massage practitioner at The Healing Arts Center, has been training in the Anat Baniel Method (anatbanielmethod.com) for the past three years. He is certified with 560 hours of ABM training and an additional 162 hours of training specific to special needs children. The Anat Baniel Method, based on the work of Moshe Feldenkrais, is a cutting edge approach to treating developmental disorders. ABM is founded on the understanding that many diseases and traumas of childhood interrupt the normal and spontaneous process of brain pattern formation, interfering with the communication necessary between the child’s body, the world around it, and the child’s brain. The Anat Baniel Method works to directly communicate with the nervous system of the child in gently ways, primarily through movement, enhanced awareness and non-verbal kinesthetic experiences.

Some of the conditions that ABM work may be useful for are autism spectrum disorders, birth trauma, brain injury, cerebral palsy, ADD, learning disorders, tactile sensitivities, and ADHD.

Parents will be asked to accompany their child and observe the 30-minute lesson held in a private treatment room. Five appointments will be available each Monday in March in the afternoon. Walk-ins are welcome if the space is available, but it is strongly recommended to sign up ahead of time. In celebration of Evans’ recent graduation from the Anat Baniel Method for children, these lessons will be given free of charge.
