I live on Harney Channel and I support the campaign to change the name. The writers of the recent opinion on this topic were rather gentle with Harney’s history. He participated in several massacres of native peoples often in the most brutal manner one can imagine. It should also be noted that in 2016 Harney Peak in North Dakota was changed by the federal government to Black Elk Peak after a campaign led by local native peoples.
