Jaydon Krisch ran his last cross country race for Orcas Island High School on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Cross Country State Championships Meet in Pasco. Not only was it Krisch’s last race, it was his fastest 5K race ever. His time of 17:15 was good enough for 28th place in a field of 154 qualifiers from around the state. In the 2018 version of the same race, Krisch had run the course in 17:57 and finished 37th in a field of 154 runners. Krisch has clearly set the standard for future OIHS cross country runners, according to Coach Mike Kulper. “Jaydon definitely has left some big shoes to fill, but hopefully other runners will step up to fill those shoes,” he said.
