Marjorie “Kittie” Baxter | May 7, 1927-Feb. 3, 2020

Marjorie Lorraine Baxter, fondly known as Kittie, age 82, of Olga, Washington, passed peacefully Feb. 3, 2020, at home with her loving husband by her side. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 7, 1937, the daughter of Howard and Nora (Baker) Johnson.

Kittie was a devout Christian and lived it to the fullest. She often encouraged people to start, live and finish their dreams. For many years she lived with her family on a brigantine sailing rig named Lieber Schwan, built by her husband David Baxter. As a native American Cherokee, she taught her daughters and others about the American wilderness and the art of kayaking.

Kittie was known for her art and crafts at their small resort, Lieber Haven on Orcas Island. She is dearly loved by her family and will be deeply missed by her adventurous husband of 67 years. They were a unit and always will be, as pictured above.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by the love of her life, David Baxter, her husband; daughters Lorraine, Sharie, Jacqueline and Nora; grandchildren Sarah, Christina and Andrea; great-grandchildren Obei, Aarow and Rayna; and one great-great-grandson Elijah.
