The Third Annual Turtleback Open will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1 with net proceeds from this year’s event being donated to avid golfer Roger Weinel and his family.

Weinel was a regular at the golf course for many years and recently suffered a stroke while golfing.

The tournament, a major social and sporting event, expects to attract more than 75 players of all experience levels from Orcas and neighboring islands.

Check-in will start at 9:30 a.m. and the start of play will begin at 10:30 a.m. Morning refreshments, a snack sack at the turn, the awards BBQ and silent auction, a golfers gift pack and door prizes are all included in the entry fee. Trophies for the winning team, longest drive, and closest to the pin will be awarded.

Pre-registration of singles and teams of four, and more information may be made by calling 376-4400. Singles will be assigned to a team or may request a placement preference.
