Orcas Island Lions Club members are preparing for the annual Toys for Tots and Tweens toy collection and distribution for families in need.

Last year, the Orcas Island Toys for Tots program helped 170 children have a merrier Christmas. This year, the Lions Club is asking for your help with new, unwrapped toys, games, gift certificates, books, hats, gloves etc to be donated. There are drop off boxes at Ray’s Pharmacy and Radio Shack. Toys will be distributed to parents of island children at the Fire Hall on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 11 a.m to 7 p.m. Parents may select a toy, a book and a hat or pair of gloves for each child. Lion’s Club volunteers will be on hand to wrap the gifts.

Anyone wishing to help with monetary donations may send a check, made out to the Orcas Lions Club, to P.O. Box 1212, Eastsound, WA 98245-1212. All cash donations are spent locally. For more information, contact program chair Veronica San Martin at 376-8376 or veronica@orcasevents.com.
