‘Ski for Jordan’ quilt raffle

Array

After reading about Jordan Griffin’s efforts to carve up the powder with the help of a bi-ski, the Orcas Quilters decided to take action.

Griffin, who was paralyzed two years ago in a snowboarding accident, just learned the basics of maneuvering a “sit ski” with the help of Mark O’Neill and the Outdoors for All Foundation.

The quilters are organizing a raffle to help raise funds for Griffin and his family to purchase the bi-ski equipment. Tickets will be on sale for an autumn-colored quilt made by Jeanne Okuniewicz on March 19 and 26 and April 2 from 10 to 2 p.m. at Island Market. A handful of Eastsound businesses will have tickets for sale as well. They are two for $5.

An account has been established at Islanders’ Bank under “Ski for Jordan.” Checks can be mailed to PO Box 699, Eastsound, WA 98245.

The quilt is on display at Rainbow Services in the Wausau Station Building in Eastsound. The drawing will be held on April 18.
