‘Nest’ brings holiday decor ideas to Garden Club Christmas tea

Cindy Morgan of the Nest will be sharing her creative flair with the members of the Orcas Island Garden Club at their annual Christmas Tea on Dec. 8.

“Holiday cheer will abound with Cindy showing unique Christmas decorating ideas focusing on using things people already have at home,” say organizers.

The meeting is at 10:30 a.m. at Orcas Center. For more information, call 376-6110 or visit www.orcasislandgardenclub.org.

Morgan is well-known on Orcas for her flower arranging and her shops, from the original location in the Cottage Company to the lower corner of the Windermere building on Main Street.

Morgan moved to Orcas in 1980 and worked in several restaurants and hotels over the years before she became a full-time potter. When the option to open the Nest came up, Morgan thought she could run her shop during the day then do pottery in the evenings. After three years, the Nest had outgrown its space in the small Cottage Company building, and Morgan moved to her current location. She offers locally sourced flowers in the spring, summer, and fall, as well as a wide variety of house plants and gifts.
