Feb. 19: A tainted driving record and a late-night pass through Eastsound prompted the arrest of an Orcas Island woman for driving with a suspended license. The 27-year-old, who was pulled over at about 2:30 a.m. was taken into custody in the 800 block of Crescent Beach.

An apparent miscalculation prompted a late-night traffic stop and arrest of an Orcas Island woman for DUI. The 44-year-old, who reportedly came to a complete stop at an intersection where there’s no stop sign, was taken into custody at about 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of A Street and Prune Alley.

Two underage women and a teenage girl were arrested on alcohol-rleated charges following a complaint about a loud party at a Tucker Avenue apartment. The three were reportedly ushered out the front door by a parent following a brief standoff, in which they balked at complying with a deputy’s request.

An Orcas Island man who failed to heed a stop sign was slapped with a trio of tickets following a late-night traffic stop near the intersection of A Street and North Beach Road. The 50-year-old, who was pulled over shortly after 10 p.m., was ticketed for driving with expired tags, altering the tags on his license plate and for failure to obey a stop sign.

Feb. 20: An 18-year-old Oak Harbor woman fended off a male acquaintance and fled from the home of a Lopez Island friend in the wake of an alleged mid-afternoon attack in the 4000 block of Fisherman Bay Road. The man, accused of breaking into a trailer where the woman was sleeping at the time, allegedly pulled her from the upper portion of a bunk bed and then pinned her on the floor. The woman, who struck her head as she fell, reportedly escaped his hold by kicking the man in the groin and then fled to a home nearby.

Feb. 21: Four men were apprehended and two later arrested following an alleged attack on a San Juan Island man in the 500 block of Roche Harbor Road. The 24-year-old was flown off-island with injuries that required off-island medical treatment. One of the two men arrested – names and ages were not listed in the report – is charged with felony assault and being a minor in possession of alcohol; the other was charged with a drug-related misdemeanor.

Feb. 24: A warrant led to a late afternoon arrest of a San Juan Island man on drug-related charges at the sports fields of the elementary school in Friday Harbor. The 23-year-old was reportedly playing baseball at the time an officer arrived on the scene.

Feb. 23: An Orcas Island man was ticketed for allowing his dog to run loose a second time in three months. The dog, a black Lab named “Ninja,” reportedly growled at children playing outside during its romp on the grounds of an Eastsound daycare center. The 31-year-old received a warning after the dog was running loose in early December.

A warrant led to the arrest of a Lopez Island man who reportedly failed to pay fines from a prior conviction and then failed to show up in court to explain why. The 21-year-old, a Level 2 sex offender, was taken into custody at about 6 p.m. and later released with a new date in court after posting $200 bail.
