Elections department needs to follow the law | Letter

The following letter was written on Nov. 2.

It has been brought to my attention that the elections department has taken several steps contrary to safe processing of ballots – the pick-up from the ballot boxes is not allowed to be under observation and a change in processing dates without notifying party chairs (incidentally against state law.) I wish to state my horror that our county should be involved in such infractions.

Please be advised that the electorate will not stand for these types of infractions. I know that each employee may think that since he/she is sure he/she is not going to do anything wrong, that it is okay. But that is not the point. The point is that these securities are in place so that no errors in wisdom allow for unfair elections. Please make sure your departments and employees follow the law and assure the electorate of safe practices 100 percent of the time.
