At the regular meeting of the Orcas Island Community Foundation on Monday, March 16, the board of directors welcomed Christopher Peacock as a new board member.
“I am absolutely delighted that Christopher has agreed to join our board. He brings a wealth of experience and island service to the table,” Community Foundation board president Susan Gudgell said.
Peacock’s professional experience includes his current position as general manager of Rosario Resort, where he was also the marketing director from 1984 to 1991 and then again from 2005 until the resort was sold. As marketing director he won SATW Public Relations Gold Award from the Society of American Travel Writers.
Many Orcas Islanders know Christopher for his talent and from his extensive experience as a music producer and performer. He has also served on the Chamber of Commerce, San Juan Island Visitor Bureau and Friends of Moran State Park boards and as an assistant high school softball coach.
“Having overseen Rosario’s community giving program for many years, I’ve received thousands of grant proposals. Donations can be great PR and marketing tools for the resort, but I believe first and foremost that we owe our island community the direct benefit of charitable contributions to improve the quality of life in the islands,” said Peacock. “I am excited to be able to give my time and energy to OICF to continue in helping to benefit our community.”
